The problem
DentaVacation connects US patients to dental clinics in Mexico, Thailand, and Costa Rica. High-intent paid traffic was arriving and bouncing. The team blamed the ads. User research revealed the page was asking visitors to convert before giving them a single reason to believe it was legitimate.
My research
6 user interviews (3 converters, 3 non-converters). Hotjar rage-click analysis: users clicking dentist photos expecting bios — finding nothing. Competitive benchmarking across 8 sites. Nielsen's 10 heuristic evaluation.
Frameworks applied
Cialdini Authority + Social Proof — trust signals before conversion ask. Progressive Commitment — low-risk first action before high-commitment ask. Nielsen Heuristic #6 — recognition over recall for dentist profiles.

What I'd do differently: I'd run qualitative research before competitive benchmarking. I spent 2 weeks on benchmarking before user interviews revealed the real problem was emotional, not structural.

The problem
The largest US medical tourism marketplace was organised around service categories — not the two questions every visitor arrived asking: "how much does [procedure] cost?" and "which city should I go to?"
My research
JTBD mapping from 8 user interviews. GSC query analysis: 68% of all queries were procedure + location combinations. Card sorting with 12 participants via Optimal Workshop. MS Clarity session recordings.
What I built
Restructured the entire site IA around procedure + location intent. Built new clinic listing pages that answered both questions above the fold. Schema markup for each clinic — local business + medical organisation.
New clinic pages now account for ~25% of total site traffic
What I'd do differently: I'd have used heatmaps on the original homepage earlier — the GSC data gave us the what, but Clarity gave us the why. Should have started both simultaneously.

The problem
Bariatric surgery patients research for 6–18 months before booking. The site was built for fast conversion — urgency tactics, countdown timers, scarcity copy. JTBD mapping revealed these patterns were actively increasing anxiety faster than they built motivation.
My research
3-round usability testing: paper prototype → Maze digital → near-final. JTBD emotional mapping — "I don't want to feel rushed" appeared in 6 of 6 interviews. Content audit against 5 anxiety categories.
Frameworks applied
Fogg Behaviour Model — Motivation was high, but Ability friction was higher. Removing anxiety-amplifying patterns lowered friction faster than adding urgency raised motivation.

What I'd do differently: I'd run emotional JTBD mapping in round 1, not round 2. I assumed the functional job was the primary blocker — the emotional job was actually the entire problem.

The problem
Dr. Anahita Deo had strong demand via Instagram DMs but no website — and a hard constraint: zero developer dependency post-launch. I mapped her audience's objections from DM transcripts and built a site structured to answer all of them, in sequence.
Frameworks applied
Cialdini's 6 principles applied structurally — Authority in the hero, Social Proof before the CTA, Scarcity for consultation availability. Progressive Commitment — low-risk first action before high-commitment ask.

What I'd do differently: I'd build a simple analytics dashboard from day one — the client has no visibility into which pages are driving conversions, which limits the next iteration.
